About Me
As your experienced Catholic School Board Trustee for the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) over the past 12 years, Shawn Xaviour has dedicated his public life to service, safety, and student success. Whether serving our community on the front lines as a firefighter or fighting for our children's futures at the board table, accountability and community care have always been his guiding principles.
Beyond his local work in Brampton (Wards 7, 8, 9, and 10), Shawn has proudly advocated for Catholic families provincially as a Director for the Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association (OCSTA). He believes that true leadership means being an accessible, transparent bridge connecting parents, guardians, local parishes, and schools.
Today, Shawn's commitment to Catholic education is even more personal. As a father to his young son, he wants to help build a stronger, faith-filled education system that will support and guide him as he grows. He wants his son, and every child in our community, to have the opportunity to learn in schools where faith, family, academic excellence, and a strong sense of community are at the heart of their education.
As Nelson Mandela famously said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can change the world." To prepare our children to be the future leaders of tomorrow, our schools must continuously adapt. Shawn is committed to ensuring that students and staff are equipped with the leading-edge tools and mental health resources they need to thrive in a changing world—all while fiercely safeguarding traditional Catholic values and academic excellence.
At a time of transition and important decisions, experience matters. Shawn remains fully committed to standing up for DPCDSB families, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and keeping our schools safe, thriving environments rooted in faith.
